During the British Raj, English civil servants, merchants and adventurers regularly fled the heat of the plains for the hills on fishing or shooting expeditions. The ??~bandobast??? for these trips was phenomenal: shikara to track animals, skinners, gun bearers A couple of khansamas to prepare the mulligatawny soups, pot roasts and puddings, bearers to serve, porters, mules and muleteers, sleeping tents, dining tents, camp cots, books and painting material, chairs and tables. The holiday-maker???s personal trunk consisted of necessities that ranged from silver shaving kits, cases of wine and cigars to dinner jackets.
Believe it or not, it is possible to replicate the experience ??” for price of course. If you decide to go on a trek sahib-style, just decide where you want to go, call a trekking agency and let them tailor-make a trip to suit you. It can be an all-frills attached trip ??” I which case, just pack your toothbrush, camera and cheque book ??” or it could be one where you have a cook and guide rolled into one and a couple of ponies and pony wallahs. Everything can be discussed and finalized before the trek, including your daily menu. In Ladakh, I???ve seen a veritable caravan of ponies and horsemen, carrying fresh vegetables and fruits, trailed by a few sad looking goats. These were to be slaughtered en route to provide fresh meat for four French trekkers who had about them all the airs of 19th century explorers in the Taklamakan Desert.

Costs of camping sahib style
An organized trek can cost anywhere between $20 and $2000 per person per day. Your trekking agent will take care of all the little details, but if you want to know why you are paying so much, below is a list of factors your agent will consider when quoting you a price:
Location of trek How far from civilization is the trek? The more remote, the more expensive it is. If you are trekking in remote Arunachal Pradesh or Ladakh, petrol and diesel are much more expensive in these parts, so transporting food, equipment and hired hands to the starting point of the trek and back will be that much more expensive.
Size of the group a trekking group of four to eight people works best in terms of cost ??” effectiveness. You will need a guide and a cook and at least two to three ponies or mules on the trek, even if you are one or two people. So, if you can increase your group???s number to four, the cost per person comes down and the trek becomes effectively cheaper.

Backpack or daypack People traveling sahib-style don???t carry their backpacks, which can weigh unto 20 kg but just a daypack with the bare minimum; camera, water bottle and parka. If you are traveling this way, a porter or a pony/ mule will carry your luggage. The more you take; the number of porters of ponies will increase. A friend actually takes an extra porter for camera equipment!
Ponies or porters where possible, try and opt for ponies to carry supplies. They are a better bet than porters as they are able to carry more weight and you don???t have to share your rations with them. The more porters you have, the more extra porters you will need to carry their share of food and supplies.
Ponies and mules are turned out loose in the late afternoons to graze. In some parts of Ladakh, especially if the winter snows have been less than normal, the grass may be of poor quality and extra ponies may be needed to carry fodder, making your trip more expensive. If you are traveling with children, ensure you have an extra riding pony for each child. When they get tired of walking they can simply hop on.
Hired hands Ponies and porters can cost $10-$15 per porter/ pony per day, depending on your location guides and cooks can cost $5 to $10 per day plus food. You also need to factor in costs of transporting them to the start of your trek and back to their town/village. Don???t forget to tip them at the end of the trek.

A German manufacturer of automobiles, Porsche is a majority-owned by the Porsche and Pi??ch families. The company headquarter is in Zuffenhausen, a city district of Stuttgart, Baden-W??rttemberg. This German automobile launch their new controversial first four door sedan in the identity of Porsche Panamera. Porsche has finally lifted the lid on the all-new 4 doors Porsche Panamera in its entirety. The rhythm goes into this, months ahead of its official global public debut at the Geneva motor show in March. Its almost a year before it runs up on sale next year (2009) in Australia. This model was controversial into the Car critics in online forum because of the design which its seems like combining the designs of all model of Porsche. Some critics are not amazed in this Panamera but as a part of Porsche luxury automobile, let’s see this coming year if the Panamera will boost up in the market. Let’s see if the critics will win of telling this model a crap or the Porsche Panamera can win on its battle to prove its luxuriance and being unique in the eyes of the car lovers.

About the features of the Panamera, it has three engine choices such as 3.6 L V6 found in the 2008 Cayenne with 300hp in the base Panamera, 4.8 L V8 with 405hp in the Panamera S, and a turbocharge 4.8 L V8 with approximate 500hp in the Panamera Turbo. There are some rumor that this new car model was turn in using also a V10 engines like in the Porche Carrera GT supercar and another speculation of using V12 Diesel engine from the Audi Q7. About the exterior of the Panamera, this is the controversial designs that reveals like the resembles of a stretched version of the Porsche 911. As stated, this id the first four door sedan with an extended roofline and a large rear tail gate which make it more two-box hatchback than three-box sedan. The four-seat interior, the two individual rear bucket seats fold forward to increase luggage space. Panamera measures 4970mm long overall and about half a meter longer than the 911. A 1418mm high, it is relatively low-slung for a four-door but still around 130mm taller than the 911. 1931mm wide which is more than 80mm wider than even the wide-bodied all-wheel drive versions of the 911, including the 911 Turbo and GT2. Panamera V6 and V8 transmission choices will include a six-speed manual and Porsche???s new seven-speed PDK double clutch automated manual.

For the availability of the Panamera, it will join the volume-selling Cayenne SUV, Boxster convertible/Cayman coupe twins and the 911 on sale in Australia early in the fourth quarter of 2009. The Porsche National car dealers network, which now comprises 13 retail outlets including the newly factory-owned Porsche Centre Sydney together with Porsche Centre Melbourne accounts for 40% of its Australian sales, will invest in expanded showroom space to cater for the Panamera and the new customers expect to attract to the Porsche brand. The car dealers expect to increase the car sales next year and their hoping that this new car Porsche Panamera will help for their campaign. Well, the car pricing of the Panamera was situated between $125,000 and $175,000. The Panamera will compete directly with four-door car models like the popular Mercedes-Benz CLS and Maserati Quattroporte. In this feature of Panamera, its competitive but it was criticize already. By the way, let’s see next year how do Panamera hit the market.

There are so many credit cards available for consumers that you may have to do some research when you are looking to apply for your first credit card or an additional one. You should carefully scrutinize all offers to find the card that best suits your needs and interests, as well as your financial circumstances. If you like to travel and do so on a regular basis, then having a travel services credit card would really be beneficial to you.

Not only will you reap a variety of rewards each time you use the card for your purchases, but by using this card when you travel, you can save yourself money. With the wide variety of travel services that the issuers of these credit cards provide for their customers, you will be able to save valuable time in not having to bother with making all your own travel arrangements. You will also find that you qualify for discounts when your arrangements are made in this manner, thus saving you money.

Look at the benefits of paying for your travel with your travel services credit card. You have peace of mind knowing that you have comprehensive travel insurance if you should happen to fall ill or have an accident when travelling in another country. The insurance connected with such credit cards could even cover such events as flight delays and cancellations and lost luggage. When you are abroad it is nice to know that you have such cover in place for medical and legal assistance when emergencies arise, although you do hope that you never have to use it.

Travel service credit cards enable you to make purchases at home and abroad and to obtain cash from an ATM when you need it. If you should find yourself in a situation where you lose your card or it is stolen, you will not have to worry because you can get an emergency replacement card within a very short time frame. You will always have a toll free number where you can obtain service 24 hours a day so help is only a phone call away when you need it.

As with all credit cards, there are many companies that offer a range of cards in the travel services category. They all carry different credit limits and terms, such as the rate of interest charged and the grace period for paying the outstanding balance in full. It is important that you do check the various travel services cards available so that you are able to get the one that best meets your needs. You can save yourself money in interest charges if you pay off the outstanding balance on your statement before the grace period expires, which is the due date on the statement. If you know that there are times when you will carry a balance and have to make monthly payments, then it is best for you to look for a card that has a low rate of interest.
